As entrepreneurs, and even more so as mompreneurs, we often need help or tips on how to get more things done in a timely manner. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy as pie and can be easier said than done in most cases.
If we look at our time differently and get a little more structured and strategic with it, it might not be so hard.
It’s worth a shot at least.
And if it doesn’t work, you can say “I read that blog post on how to get more things done and it didn’t work.” Lol.
And that’s totally ok too. But if these tips don’t work, try to tweak them if you can until you figure out what does work for you. Everyone has a different situation. The single mom is definitely in more of tight space (time wise) than a married mom.
Overall, we all need to know how to work with the time we have, so check out the tips below and apply them as you can.
If you can help it, get organized
Trying to get things done in a certain matter of time can be difficult sometimes as I stated before. Focusing on organization is the main key. Things will run a lot more smoother when organization is in place. Having things in order such as your valuables and your daily schedule can make a huge difference.
As a mom, this goes out the window sometimes. I have a teenager and a toddler, so guess what that means…busy times ten. What I do normally, is look at what needs to get done, and do these tasks in increments. Sometimes I finish and sometimes I don’t, but most of it gets done like its suppose to.
Manage Your Time as best you can
If this is done correctly, you will be bound to get more things done during your day. Make use of your time and make it count. Try your best to stay productive as much as possible. Time management may not be easy all the time especially if you have kids, need to run errands, and if things pop up all of a sudden. Some things are uncontrollable but remain focused. A little is better than nothing at all. Eliminate distractions as much as you can. This will save you from wasting time.
Try the nutrition thing, it’s worth it
A lot of people do not understand just how important nutrition is towards your ability to stay focused and concentrate better. Your daily diet should consist of healthy and energetic foods to help you throughout the day. I know, blah, blah, blah, but it’s true. An unhealthy diet will lead to an up and down day, and that’s not good at all (Not to mention mood swings). If you are able to eat a healthy diet, then do it. Leafy greens, fruits, and whole grains are all contributors to your energy and will help increase in your focus.
More sleep…I could use this myself
Sleep is just as important as anything else. Don’t deprive yourself of sleep if you want to stay on point the next day. 8 hours a day should be the minimum but realistically, listen to your body. Some people need more sleep than others. If you start feeling tired sometime during the day, then a 20 minute power nap will do you some good. As for me, I haven’t seen an 8 hour sleep in many years. I’m just not trained that way anymore. If I can get in 6 hours, I’m good. But by all means, do your best to get your rest. Your body needs it and so does your mind.
Give yourself a nice little break
You should never let work wear you down. Taking some time to wine down or do something else for 10 to 15 minutes, can be more help than harm. Just like your body needs relaxation, so does your mind. A break will make you more alert with a new sense of motivation.
This works wonders for me. Sometimes you need to step away for a moment and come back even better and recharged. Give yourself a break so that you don’t burnout. Your work will get done, trust me, it isn’t going anywhere 🙂
That’s all the tips I have for now. See what works and give an ax to what doesn’t. A little change is better than no change when it comes to dealing with time. We all have the same amount of time, but how we use it is what counts.
